In all areas of life, when we dress the part, it puts us in the right mindset. This is why we enforce the dress code below. Dancers who arrive to class unprepared may be asked to make corrections or to sit out of class, if necessary.
Ballet
Girls: Black Leotard, pink tights (convertible tights for levels 2 and up) & pink ballet shoes. Please no large tutus, street dresses, costumes etc. Any undergarments worn must be concealed underneath the leotard. Boys: White or black shirt, black dance leggings or pants, & ballet shoes. Boys ages 10 and older must wear a dance belt.
Hair: Must be pulled back in a bun, including hairspray and bobby pins. Dancers with hair that is too short must pull it back into a pony with a headband or clips to secure hair from falling into the face. For help with a ballet bun, please see this video.
Hip-Hop
Dress for Boys and Girls: Comfortable dark colored top & bottoms with leotard underneath. Short shorts and crop tops are not allowed. Clothes can be loose-fitting but must still be able to see the lines of body. Tennis shoes or jazz shoes. Hair: Must be secured and off the face (bun, pony tail or half-pony recommended).
Jazz/Tap/Contemporary
Dress: Leotard (black recommended) or fitted shirt, & capris or long bottoms. We do not allow short shorts, crop tops, or items tied around the waist. Please wear proper shoes for the style. Hair: Must be secured and off the face in a ballet bun or pony tail.
Combo Classes
Dancers taking a combo class should dress according to first style listed on the schedule. For example, if the class is a ballet/Tap Combo, dancers should follow the ballet dress code, and buy tap shoes in addition. Dancers in a Jazz/Tap Combo should follow the jazz dress code. Dancers in a Hip Hop/Tumbling Combo should wear a leotard with stretchy pants or shorts.
